President Nana Akufo-Addo of Ghana has conferred on Kenyan President William Ruto, The Companion of the Order of the Star of the Volta, Ghana’s most distinguished accolade, during a state function.

Praising President Ruto as a paragon among a new breed of African leaders committed to enforcing accountability and due process, Akufo-Addo recognized Ruto’s efforts despite potential political fallout.

“Under your leadership,” President Akufo-Addo said, “Kenya has become a shining example of a nation governed by the rule of law,” adding that “Kenya has regained its place of pride at the international stage.”
