Anwar Futloo, the General Manager of Boulevard Palace Hotel, was found dead on Monday evening after reportedly ingesting a toxic chemical.
Preliminary reports suggest that Futloo consumed caustic soda, a highly corrosive substance commonly used for cleaning, leading to severe internal injuries. The incident occurred during a visit to a friend’s residence on 9th Street, a location he frequented.
Despite immediate medical intervention at the John F. Kennedy Medical Center, Futloo succumbed to his injuries a few hours later.
The Liberia National Police have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death. A security guard present at the residence during the incident has been detained for questioning at the Zone 2 Police Station in Slipway.
The management of Boulevard Palace Hotel expressed deep sorrow over the loss of Futloo, describing him as more than just a leader to the hotel. “Anwar was not just a leader; he was the heart of Boulevard Palace, inspiring every member of our team with his unwavering dedication, compassion, and vision,” the statement read.
As investigations continue, the Liberia National Police urge the public to refrain from speculation, emphasizing that official statements will be made once the cause of death is confirmed.
