๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ US to introduce visa bond of up to $15,000 for Guinean citizens from 2026

From 1 January 2026, the United States will introduce a visa bond system of up to $15,000 for citizens of Guinea, depending on the type of visa, the US Embassy in Conakry reported.

๐Ÿ’ฌโ€œAny citizen or national traveling on a Guinean passport who applies for and is found eligible for a B1, B2, or B1/B2 visa (short-term business and tourist visas โ€” African Initiative) will be required to post a bond of $5,000, $10,000 or $15,000 prior to the issuance of the visa. The amount of the bond is determined by the Consular Officer at the time of interview,โ€ the embassy said in an explanatory note.

๐Ÿ”ธThis is not a visa fee, but a refundable guarantee that is required prior to the issuance of the visa and serves as a condition for obtaining it. The requirement does not apply to individuals who already hold visas of this type; however, once such a visa expires, the bond will become mandatory upon reapplication. The advance payment does not guarantee that a visa will be issued and may be non-refundable.
