NEW YORK — Rapper and television personality N.O.R.E. is facing a civil lawsuit filed by Carmen Bryan, who alleges that the hip-hop artist sexually assaulted her at a Manhattan nightclub in 1999.

The lawsuit concerns an alleged incident that Bryan says occurred at a crowded New York City nightclub while N.O.R.E. was promoting his sophomore album. The allegations, which date back more than two decades, are now the subject of civil litigation.

According to the complaint, as reported by Complex, Bryan alleges that the encounter occurred in a nightclub environment and that she subsequently discussed what she says happened with people within the hip-hop community.

Bryan is known publicly as the mother of a child with rapper Nas. The lawsuit also references an alleged conversation between Bryan and Jay-Z following the incident. According to the complaint, Bryan says she told Jay-Z about the alleged assault and that he wanted to confront N.O.R.E. over what she had described. Bryan allegedly asked him not to escalate the situation.

The complaint further alleges that N.O.R.E. later apologized to Bryan.

The allegations have emerged through a civil lawsuit and have not been established as fact by a court. A lawsuit represents the claims of the person bringing the case, and the filing itself does not constitute a judicial finding that the alleged conduct occurred.
