Governor of Niger State Mohammed Umaru Bago, who is leading Nigeria’s delegation to the Golden Autumn agro-industrial exhibition in Moscow, said that his country views Russia as one of its key partners in agriculture and other strategic sectors. He made the statement in an interview with African Initiative on the sidelines of the event.
According to Bago, the main purpose of his visit to Russia is to develop co-operation in the agricultural sector and to study Russia’s experience in modern agricultural technologies.
“The first is to identify how we can collaborate with the Russian agricultural industry in order to develop our own agriculture in Nigeria,” Bago said.
He stressed that the exhibition features many advanced Russian solutions of interest to African countries.
Answering a question about the prospects for interaction between Russia and Nigeria, the governor noted that with his country’s accession to BRICS as a partner state, co-operation is reaching a new level.
Speaking about Nigerians’ perception of Russia, the governor said that the country’s image in Nigeria is exceptionally positive.
On the sidelines of the exhibition, the NOVO Evolution Centre Group, with the support of the Russian Trade Mission in Nigeria, organised a stand for West African countries.
