🇷🇺🇪🇹 “Rosatom” will build a nuclear power plant in Ethiopia based on the modern and safe VVER-1200 reactor — the Russian ambassador to the country, Evgeny Terekhin.

💬 “The document, signed by the Director General of Rosatom Alexey Likhachev and his Ethiopian counterpart Ashebir Balchi, defines a clear sequence of steps: the creation of a joint working group, the preparation of a detailed roadmap, the development of a feasibility study for the NPP project, and the subsequent conclusion of an intergovernmental agreement. It concerns the construction of a plant based on the modern and safe VVER-1200 technology.”

Terekhin noted that cooperation between Russia and Ethiopia in the field of peaceful nuclear energy could become “a flagship direction of economic and technological partnership” between the two countries.

The ambassador added that this action plan is not an international treaty but a “flexible framework working document.” At the same time, the start dates for the construction of the NPP have not yet been announced.
