Gunmen kill 12 people in attack on village in Southeastern Central African Republic

🇨🇫
At least 12 people were killed in an attack by armed men on a village in the southeast of the Central African Republic (CAR), the head of the Mbomou prefecture, Pierrette Benguere, told Sputnik.

“I was in a convoy guarded by UN peacekeepers when we arrived at the scene of the fire. We learned that a local resident went to get bamboo and was shot. Someone alerted the village and the villagers ran away. Then armed men came, they set fire to the houses and killed those who did not have time to escape,” Benguere said.

The massacre took place in the village, located 30 kilometers from the city of Bakouma. She called on the government to increase the number of military personnel.
