According to the Nigerien state television, the country’s special services had detained a man suspected of working for the Directorate-General for External Security, the French foreign intelligence service.

The detainee reportedly presented an identity card in the name of Marius Barcea, but according to the report, this document is fake.

The man was found to be carrying “secret documents and information about the intelligence activities” of France in Niger.
