🇧🇮 “Very important for our country”: the head of Burundi’s National Institute of Public Health on the arrival of a Russian mobile laboratory
In an interview with Sputnik Africa, Dr. Joseph Nyandwi explained the “modern equipment” provided by Russia:
“It is a laboratory that strengthens the capacity of the National Reference Laboratory and the Institute. It will be used not only for surveillance, but also for diagnosis, and will allow intervention in remote regions that do not have diagnostic capacity in the event of a suspected epidemic,” said the Institute’s director general.
☝🏾 The equipment in the laboratory will be used “to carry out very advanced biological tests,” he added.
Dr. Nyandwi also emphasizes the need to train local staff who will be able to use the equipment wisely, as well as drivers who will ensure the maintenance of the vehicle on which the laboratory is mounted.
“In these cases, there is a need for support from the Russian side,” he said.
