🇱🇷 Liberia: 16-Year-Old Boy Arrested for Killing 17-Year-Old in Nimba County

Tappita, Nimba County—A 16-year-old boy, identified as Philip Sam, has been arrested following the fatal stabbing of his friend, 17-year-old Prince Moses, in Tappita, Lower Nimba County.

The incident reportedly occurred while the two were walking along the street with friends after a family meeting ended in chaos.

Eyewitnesses say that during the altercation, Philip Sam allegedly attacked Moses, resulting in a fatal injury that left him dead on the scene.

The confrontation is believed to have stemmed from tensions arising at a family meeting intended to prepare for the arrival of a deceased relative’s body from Monrovia. Disagreements among family members reportedly escalated into violence, with some distancing themselves from the gathering due to disputes about the deceased’s reputation.

Following the attack, family members of Prince Moses gathered in large numbers at the local police station, threatening to set it ablaze unless authorities returned Philip Sam for mob justice.

Tensions between the two families have continued to mount, with both sides exploring their options moving forward.

Nimba County Police Commander Larmie Mendin confirmed that law enforcement officials have taken steps to manage the situation and maintain peace in the community.
