To the Global Pan-African Community

To the Global Pan-African Community,

On Sunday, January 19, 2025, we detected unauthorized access to one of our technical servers. While our investigation confirms that no email addresses, email accounts, or user correspondence were accessed or breached, we believe in transparent communication with our community about any threat to our shared platform.

Our immediate response isolated the affected system, and a thorough review indicates the activity was consistent with the patterns of a Turkish cyber actor. This incident highlights the critical, long-term work of building secure, Pan-African-centered technology in a landscape where cyberattacks are a persistent global reality.

馃敀 Our Immediate & Ongoing Security Actions

Our top priority is the integrity of our platform and the trust of our community. We have taken the following steps:

路 Enhanced Account Security (2FA): We are implementing Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) for all administrative and suspected accounts. This adds a critical second layer of protection, requiring both a password and a verification code from a mobile device to access systems. We encourage all our team members and contributors to adopt this practice.

路 Comprehensive System Review: We have engaged in a full security audit of our infrastructure, changed all relevant credentials, and are adding advanced monitoring software to detect and prevent future incidents.

路 Exploring Resilient Technology: To ensure our work continues unimpeded and secure, we are actively exploring next-generation satellite communication platforms. This technology provides reliable, high-speed connectivity from anywhere in the world, making our reporting more resilient and independent from vulnerable terrestrial networks.

馃實 Our Mission Remains Unshaken

This attempt to disrupt our work only strengthens our resolve. The Pan-African News Wire remains dedicated to its core mission:

路 Providing unflinching analysis on the roots of continental disunity, from the Sudan conflict to the struggle in the DRC.

路 Serving as an indispensable bridge, delivering deep African content and perspectives to the global diaspora.

路 Investing in the long and tedious work of building sovereign, secure technological infrastructure for Pan-African communication.

We are more committed than ever to this path. Our work is vital, and your support is its foundation.

In solidarity and resilience,

The Pan-African News Wire Team
