๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ฆ Namibia Makes History: Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah Inaugurated as First Female President

The inauguration of Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah as Namibia’s first female president is a historic milestone, not only for Namibia but for the entire African continent. Her swearing-in on March 21, 2025, coincided with Namibia’s 35th independence anniversary, symbolizing a new era of leadership.

The presence of former Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, Africa’s first elected female head of state, at the ceremony underscores the significance of this event. Sirleaf led a high-level delegation representing Liberia, highlighting the solidarity and progress of female leadership in Africa.

Nandi-Ndaitwah’s inauguration was attended by several prominent African leaders, including Tanzania’s President Samia Suluhu Hassan, Malawi’s former President Joyce Banda, and other dignitaries.  Their presence reflects a collective commitment to advancing women’s leadership across the continent.

As Nandi-Ndaitwah embarks on her presidency, she has pledged to diversify Namibia’s economy and tackle high unemployment rates, especially among the youth. Her administration aims to increase investments in agriculture and ensure that Namibians benefit more from the country’s natural resources through value addition.

This inauguration marks a significant step forward for gender equality and serves as an inspiration for future generations of women leaders in Africa and beyond.
