
As the AU-established coordinating mechanism begins a dialogue process for the Sudanese political forces Sudanese women gathered to elevate their voices in the ongoing efforts to achieve lasting peace and security in the country, fighting has forced Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) to stop operating at the Turkish Hospital in Khartoum, where the organisation had managed to provide continuous hands-on, life-saving treatment for almost 14 months.
UN humanitarians have said that fresh violence led to 136,000 people fleeing their homes in search of safety, while the latest reports indicate more than half the population of 47.2 million faces acute food insecurity, signifying severe lack of food, high malnutrition, and starvation leading to death.
