Chinese company to build Africa’s largest desalination plant in Namibia

An agreement has been reached between China General Nuclear Power Group (CGN) and the Namibian government and construction will begin this year.

The production capacity of this plant, after its commissioning, will be up to 20 million tonnes of desalinated water per year.

The implementation of this project would solve the problem of fresh water shortage in Namibia, especially in the central and western coastal regions of the country, as well as ensure the development of various industries.
