Bolivia joins South Africa’s International Court of Justice genocide case against Israel, the court says

💬 “Bolivia filed a declaration of intervention in the case concerning the Application of the Convention the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide in the Gaza Strip (South Africa v. Israel),” the statement said.

This follows a January ruling by the International Court of Justice (ICJ), which called on Israel to prevent genocide and allow UN investigators to look into allegations of such acts. Bolivia asserts that the situation constitutes a genocidal war and contends that Israel is ignoring the court’s orders, Western media noted.

The ongoing conflict resulted in significant casualties, with over 42,010 reported deaths in Gaza, primarily civilians, following Israel’s military response to a Hamas attack that killed over 1,200 people in Israel. The crisis has prompted renewed calls for intervention from the ICJ and other international bodies.

Bolivia already announced in November it was severing diplomatic ties over what it described as the “disproportionate” attacks on Gaza by Israel, media reported.
