Born on January 2, 1980, in Wimbledon, London, to Nigerian parents, Kemi Badenoch spent parts of her childhood in Lagos, Nigeria, before returning to the UK at 16. She pursued computer systems engineering at the University of Sussex and later studied law at Birkbeck, University of London. Before entering politics, Badenoch worked in various sectors, including software development and banking. Her political career began with her election as the Member of Parliament for Saffron Walden in 2017. She held several ministerial positions, such as Minister for Women and Equalities and Secretary of State for International Trade, before becoming the Leader of the Conservative Party and Leader of the Opposition in November 2024.
