Ghana has launched a direct cedi-to-yuan payment mechanism that allows businesses to settle eligible China trade transactions without using the US dollar as an intermediary. Piloted by Stanbic Bank Ghana, the system uses China’s CIPS network and could reduce settlement times and foreign-exchange costs while strengthening Ghana-China trade.
