Taliban reportedly asks to participate in organization of Islamic cooperation’s Summit in Gambia

The Taliban* interim government intends to send its representative to the 15th Heads of State and Government Summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in the Gambia, Turkish media reported.

The 15th OIC Summit is set for May 4-5 in Banjul, Gambia, with leaders from its 57 member states anticipated.

The Taliban have been de facto in power in Afghanistan since August 2021, when they entered Kabul and then-President Ashraf Ghani left the country. On the night of August 31, the US military completed the withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan after nearly 20 years stay in the country.
