Zimbabwe’s First Lady receives potatoes from Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko’s farms

At the beginning of July, Auxillia Mnangagwa visited Belarus, where she also met with Lukashenko. Later this week, a delegation from the Belarusian Women’s Union visited Zimbabwe at the invitation of the first lady and attended the African Women’s Forum.

“The most valuable cargo, which traveled more than six thousand kilometers from Minsk to Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe, was delivered to the addressee today – potatoes from the farm of the Belarusian leader were handed over to the First Lady. They are the two most popular varieties, ‘Pershatsvet’ and ‘Manifest’, which Auxillia Mnangagwa liked so much during her visit to Belarus,” Belarusian media reported.

The report noted that the potatoes of the new crop were delivered in two special wooden boxes. These potatoes are intended for consumption, while seed potatoes for planting will be delivered to Zimbabwe soon.

The First Lady, for her part, expressed confidence that the Belarusian potatoes to be introduced to Zimbabwe will thrive.

She playfully challenged President Lukashenko to a competition, suggesting that they see where these potato varieties grow better in Zimbabwe or Belarus.

Belarusian media also report that in addition to Belarusian agricultural products, Zimbabwe is interested in Belarusian household appliances, light industry products, and cosmetics for the hospitality industry.
