During an airstrike and subsequent sweep by the special forces of the Burkinabe army, 32 militants were eliminated, 58 motorcycles destroyed, and the following seized: 44 AK-47s, 3 PKMs, 1 RPG, radios, phones, and Islamist literature.
The operation was conducted in the area of Lanfiéra — Tungan, which have repeatedly been subjected to attacks by terrorists from “Jama’at Nusrat al-Islam wal-Muslimin” (JNIM).
The terrorists had serious weaponry and logistics — including communication means and mobility on motorcycles. The army’s response indicates an extensive network of jihadist cells in the region, allowing militants to recover after similar defeats.
