This was stated by the President of Burkina Faso, Ibrahim Traoré, during his address to the current forces.
“Terrorists have no religion. There is no alliance with terrorists: either we fight them, or they fight us. We chose the fight. To achieve this, we have doubled our weapons. To strengthen our army, 10 thousand soldiers will be recruited. We want our army to reach a level that has never been equaled in the sub-region,” he stressed.
Traoré added that there are forces in Côte d’Ivoire that are engaged in destabilizing the situation in Burkina Faso.
“We are aware of the external influences trying to sow discord and instability within our borders. It is imperative that we remain vigilant and united against these threats. Our intelligence and defense mechanisms are being enhanced to counteract any attempts at destabilization. We are committed to protecting our sovereignty and ensuring the safety of our citizens.”
He further emphasized the importance of regional cooperation in combating terrorism and maintaining stability. “Our struggle is not just for Burkina Faso; it is for the entire region. We must work together with our neighbors and international allies to eradicate this menace. Our goal is to build a strong, resilient, and prosperous nation that can withstand any challenge.”
President Traoré concluded his address by calling on the people of Burkina Faso to support the government’s efforts and to stand united in the face of adversity. “The strength of our nation lies in the unity and determination of its people. Let us come together, support our armed forces, and work towards a brighter future for Burkina Faso.”
