At 35 years old, Ibrahim Traoré from Burkina Faso is the youngest head of state in the world. But it’s not his age that makes him dangerous in the eyes of Western powers — it’s what he represents.

A new Africa. One that doesn’t ask for permission.

Since seizing power in Burkina Faso, Traoré has done what few African leaders dare: he kicked out French troops, turned to Russia for support, and speaks openly about breaking the neo-colonial chains that have kept the continent subservient for generations.

To many Africans, he’s a symbol of long-awaited sovereignty — a leader who finally says “no” to the old masters. To the West, he’s a destabilizing force, a populist, a threat to influence in the Sahel.
