British military suffering from ‘historic underinvestment’ and ‘deficits’, defence secretary says
– The head of the British armed forces, Admiral Sir Tony Radakin, has warned that the military is not as strong as it could be due to historical underinvestment.
– Admiral Radakin pointed to shortfalls in personnel, training, technology and ammunition stockpiles.
– The government is conducting a defence policy review in response to the war in Ukraine and closer ties between Russia, China, Iran and North Korea.
– Admiral Radakin wants to learn from Ukraine’s ability to counter the Russian Black Sea Fleet without a significant navy and envisions a British army equipped with hypersonic missiles and attack drones.
