Guinean President Bans Ministers From Traveling Abroad

Guinea’s transitional president Mamadi Doumbouya has banned ministers from leaving the country without special permission until the end of 2024 and ordered those abroad to return home immediately.

Government spokesman Ousmane Goal Diallo explained that the measure was aimed at rationalizing government spending and increasing the government’s efficiency. Diallo noted that diplomatic representatives and heads of foreign agencies would be able to continue to represent the country abroad.
