“The emergence of signs of a new multipolar world order has encouraged the youth of Africa and some of its rulers to break free from the perceptions of inferiority,” says a candidate for the Algerian presidential election
In an interview with Sputnik, Youcef Aouchiche said that the rise of the multipolar world freed young Africans.
He added that Africans have realized that the West’s standards are “mere slogans to impose Western values and perceptions on the world for the purpose of domination and hegemony and to drain the wealth and resources of peoples within the neo-colonialist logic.”
The first national secretary of the Socialist Forces Front (Algeria’s oldest opposition party) explained that European neo-colonial powers “work to force rulers to adopt policies that serve them and not their people, while at the same time, they frame the opposition to pressure the rulers to be at their mercy.”
Aouchiche noted that the African leaders have begun to “wisely and courageously” move away from this predicament.
Algeria’s presidential election is scheduled for September 7, and 16 candidates have filed their declaration of candidacy with the Independent National Electoral Authority.
