TIME Magazine released its 2024 list of the Most Influential People in AI, based on interviews with industry experts. But one major name is missing—Elon Musk.

The cover spotlights actress Scarlett Johansson, while notable figures like OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and co-founder Ilya Sutskever are not featured.

Some notable Pan-African figures featured on the 2024 TIME100 AI list include:

  1. Chinasa Okolo (Nigeria/USA) – A Nigerian-American computer scientist and Brookings Institution fellow, recognized for her advocacy in AI policy. She works to ensure that AI development does not marginalize communities in the Global South, particularly in Africa.
  2. Kauna Malgwi (Nigeria) – Chairperson of Nigeria’s Content Moderators Union, known for her work in regulating content moderation for advanced AI systems【19†source】.
  3. Pelonomi Moiloa (South Africa) – CEO and co-founder of Lelapa AI, focused on using AI to improve the quality of life for Africans.
