Ugandan Defense Forces Chief General Muhoozi Kainerugaba Issues Ultimatum to US Ambassador

In a dramatic turn of events that has escalated tensions between Uganda and the United States, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the Chief of Defense Forces of the Uganda People’s Defence Force (UPDF) and son of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, has issued a public ultimatum to the US Ambassador to Uganda, William Popp. The general gave the American diplomat a strict three-day deadline, demanding that Popp personally apologize to President Museveni for what Kainerugaba described as “undiplomatic behavior.” If the ambassador fails to do so, Kainerugaba has insisted that he should leave Uganda altogether.
